Our People

Sekeyian Yiaiile, Executive Director

Sekeyian Yialie grew up in a Maasai village, completed secondary school in Kenya and obtained her BA in the United States from LeMoyne Owen College in 2006. She founded MCI in 2007 with a single school feeding program at Enkongu Narok Village School in the Amboseli National Park, and has overseen its growth into an organization with a $150,000 annual budget supporting seven programs and four different schools.

Matthew Bergman, Chairman

Matthew Bergman is a Seattle-based lawyer and political activist. He began funding MCI in 2007 and has been directly involved in the organization’s expansion and development. A frequent visitor to Kenya, Bergman has published numerous articles on African policy and narratives describing his experiences.

Cassandara M. Selberg, Medical Director

Cassandara Selberg is a Nurse Practitioner with a professional interest in women’s health and reproductive medicine. Currently employed at Oregon State University, Ms. Selberg traveled to Kenya in January 2010 to perform a preliminary needs assessment for the Maasai Women’s Clinic and ended up delivering a baby in a Maasai home.
